BANGALORE, NOV. 24. All four fancied outfits, Vijaya Bank, HAL, MEG and Karnataka State Police made it to the semifinal round robin of the Association Cup basketball championship at Sree Kanteerva Stadium courts here on Wednesday. Vijaya Bank chalked up an impressive 72-47 win over Sports Hostel, while HAL outplayed NAL Sports Club 72-42. MEG beat BEL Sports Club 51-30 and Karnataka State Police, with a fine display by sharp shooting Sanath Shetty (30 points) defeated Kanaka, Kolar 70-50.
Quarterfinals: HAL 72 (Sanjay Raj 17, Sriram 16) bt NAL (Venkat 21). KSP 70 (Sanath Shetty 30, Loksh 10) bt Kanaka, Kolar 50 (Guruprakash 25). MEG 51 (Aditya 14) bt BEL 30 (Mahesh 10). Vijaya Bank 72 (Basvaraj 22, Mualimohan 13) bt Sports Hostel 47 (Srinivas Naik 12).
