By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
DEC. 13.
The Congress member, N. Varadarajulu Reddy, on Monday embarrassed the Government in the Assembly by demanding an enquiry by a sitting judge into the charges of corruption against IAS and IPS officers.
Citing a report in a vernacular daily during zero hour, Mr. Reddy alleged that the officers had palatial houses in the posh Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad costing Rs. 5 crores to Rs. 10 crores. Some of them even had swimming pools. They acquired properties not just in Hyderabad but in other States too, he alleged and wondered how they could build and acquire properties when their monthly income was between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000.
The Agriculture Minister, N. Raghuveera Reddy, said he had noted the issue and would take the necessary action.
