Man knocked down by Uma Bharti's car

TIRUPATI. Dec. 13. The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, is again in news. The car in which she was on her way to Tirumala on Monday evening reportedly knocked down a 40-year-old person causing him serious injuries.

According to reports reaching here, the mishap occurred at Panagal, 25 km from here.

Ms. Bharti was coming to Tirupati after offering prayers at Srikalahasti temple.

Sources quoting eyewitnesses said the victim, Nagarajachari, was hit when he reportedly tried to cross her car after the escort vehicle leading her convoy whizzed past.

Treatment for victim

Reports said Ms. Bharti immediately stopped the car and took the victim back to Srikalahasti for treatment. As the victim suffered serious rib and head injuries, he was referred to Government General Hospital, Tirupati, for emergency treatment.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

A visibly upset Ms. Bharti later proceeded up the hills for a darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
