Education in the New Millennium

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, DEC. 17. The Art of Living Foundation is organising a conference on holistic education, `Grooming Leaders: Education in the New Millennium', here on Sunday.

It will be an attempt to bring together eminent people from several fields (including media, research, educational institutions and government), who have a direct or indirect influence on youth, says a Foundation release.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation, will deliver the keynote address, explaining his philosophy that education should be treated as a process of preparing a child or a student for life and not just stuffing the head with information.

Other speakers include E. Balagurusamy, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University; B.K. Vanavarayar, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan; S. Paramasivam, Director of School Education, and Mrs.Y. G. Parthasarathy, Dean and Director of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Schools.

Heads and faculty of educational institutions from across Tamil Nadu and students will attend.

Admission is by invitation.

For invitations and details contact: 9841017767/9841441086.

On Saturday, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will interact with representatives and leaders from slums from various parts of Chennai.
