Harbour utility tug inducted into Navy
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
DEC. 17.
A harbour utility tug was inducted into the Navy by Vice-Admiral, J.S. Bedi, Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition, at a function here today.
Accepting the tug from the manufacturers, Tebma Shipyards, Mr. Bedi said it was the last vessel in the series of five for which the contract was awarded to the company. The tug, the ninth for the Navy, would be used in the Visakapattinam navy yard. The Tebma Shipyards Managing Director, P.K. Balan, said the tug was a highly manoeuvrable vessel, which could handle large vessels in the restricted harbour area. It was handed over to the Navy five months ahead of schedule.
