PMK flays police action
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
DEC. 21
. The Pattali Makkal Katchi has condemned police action against members of the Tamil Nadu Nadar Peravai at Salem on Monday.
In a statement today, the party founder, S. Ramadoss, said the firing of buck-shots was "uncalled for" when the agitation was held peacefully. He demanded a high-level enquiry.
Claiming that the State Government failed to implement prohibition and eradicate illicit liquor, Dr. Ramadoss wondered why the Government should not permit toddy tapping again. This would provide employment to people in rural areas.
