By Our Staff Reporter

Lingala Sri Harsha

GUNTUR, DEC. 22. A student of Chalapathi Public School here, Lingala Sri Harsha, won the bronze medal in the individual under-10 boys category and the Indian team won the gold at the Asian Youth Chess Championship at Singapore last week.

A student of sixth standard, he holds 1,930th rank in the FIDE ratings and has been undergoing coaching at the Anand Chess Academy for the past two years, his father told reporters at a press conference here on Wednesday. He was yet another feather in the cap of Guntur district, which had produced many international chess players.

He was selected for coaching by a Russian Grandmaster sponsored by the All-India Chess Federation at Calicut. He had won the fourth place in the under-9 boys event at the 17th Nationals at Calicut in December last year and had won the Rapid Chess Championship at Gudivada in Krishna district in May this year.
