HYDERABAD, DEC 22. The Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday asked the former Minister, P. Ramasubba Reddy, to go in for appeal to the higher court against the Metropolitan Sessions Court order sentencing him to life imprisonment. Responding to a question at a press conference, the TDP leaders -- Kadiam Srihari and Umareddy Venkateswarlu -- said Mr. Reddy had been contending that he was innocent and hence the party has directed him to approach the higher court. They were not prepared to say anything beyond this. "It is not proper to comment when the party had not seen and studied the court order," they added. The message of his sentence came when the party's Polit Bureau meeting was in progress. As the party awaited full information, there was no immediate discussion on the issue. Later in the evening, the family members of Mr. Reddy, his wife, Indiramma, his aunt, Laxmidevamma and two sisters and his supporters, met the party President, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu. Mr. Naidu assured them all help.
