HYDERABAD, DEC. 22. The Cabinet on Wednesday appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, in initiating an agreement between the Government of India and the Hyderabad International Airport Company Limited. In an unusual gesture, the Ministers adopted a unanimous resolution lauding his resolve to make the upcoming international airport at Shamshabad a world-class facility. Referring to Dr. Reddy's recent three-day visit to New Delhi, the Information Minister, Mohd. Ali Shabbir, told reporters that "the earlier Chief Minister used to make tall claims after returning from the capital." The Council of Ministers also congratulated the Chief Minister for his concerted effort in taking up various issues with the Prime Minister relating to the projects covering irrigation, roads, ports, power and industries. It also thanked the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, for his "enthusiastic support and cooperation." The Cabinet approved alienation of 40 cents of Government of land in favour of the Freedom Fighters' Association in Vijayawada free of cost for the association's building. The association sought the land at market value but the Cabinet allowed it free as a special gesture.
