Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the article, "Freedom to women blessing or blemish?" (Open Page, Jan. 4). While the author's concern about deteriorating values is laudable, he has ignored the fact that alien values are corrupting the minds of girls and boys alike. Why should girls alone be blamed for clandestine meetings and quick marriages? An article on social reform, in general, would have been more appropriate.
Rachita Mittal,
* * * Sir, Indian men have always believed that women have to be the upholders of moral values; the writer has reaffirmed this belief. If today, some women make their own choices in life, they should be appreciated and not looked at with scorn.
Aparna Sundaram,
