The concessional offer, extended up to December 31, is available only to individuals in areas where there is surplus capacity in the exchange and the waiting list for new connections is nil. Conversion of existing second connection under this scheme is permitted. The tariff for the scheme is Rs.499 per month for connections provided by exchanges with a capacity above one lakh lines and Rs.399 from exchanges with less than one lakh lines capacity. The BSNL, a press release from the Circle says, is also extending the offer of no installation charges for landline connections obtained under the `Student Internet Scheme' up to December 31. Apart from the monthly charges of Rs.99, the tariff will be Rs.9.60 per hour during peak hours and Rs.4.80 per hour during off-peak hours, including Sundays and national holidays.
