THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 15. The LDF State committee today accused the State Government of diverting tsunami relief funds to matters not relating to rehabilitation of the victims. Briefing presspersons after a meeting of the committee, the LDF convener, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, said the Government was planning to spend part of the relief funds on building seawalls along the coast. This work should be taken up with the Union Government's assistance and not with the relief funds, he said. Twenty days after the tsunami onslaught, the victims of the worst-hit villages of Alapad and Arattupuzha continue to languish in relief camps. "I do not have to elaborate on the situation in the relief camps. The Government has shown no urgency in getting them back in their homes," he said.
