Rail track restored

NAGAPATTINAM, JAN. 19. The 7-km metre-gauge rail track between Nagapattinam and Nagore stations which was damaged in the tsunami was restored today. Normal train services on this section would be operated from tomorrow.

D.K. Saraf, Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Tiruchi, inspected the track this morning. A special train was operated on trial. The track was fit for running normal services on this section, sources told the The Hindu . Booking and reservation counters at Nagore and Nagapattinam will function from tomorrow.

Change in timings

Minor changes have been made in the timing of the Nagore-Nagapattinam section from tomorrow.

The Nagore-Tambaram Kamban Express (6876) will leave Nagore at 9.45 p.m. instead of 9.30 p.m. and arrive at Nagore at 5.45 a.m. from Tambaram (6875) instead of 5.30 a.m. There is no change in the arrival and departure timings of the train at Tambaram.

The Nagore-Tiruvarur passenger (875) will leave Nagore at 5.40 p.m. and reach Tiruvarur at 7.05 p.m. instead of 6.50 p.m. In the return direction, the Tiruvarur-Nagore passenger (876) will leave Tiruvarur at 8 p.m. and arrive at Nagore at 9.25 p.m. instead of 9.15 p.m.

The Nagore-Tiruvarur passenger (871) will leave Nagore at 6.15 a.m. and reach Tiruvarur at 7.45 a.m. instead of 7.30 a.m. In the return, the Tiruvarur-Nagore passenger (872) will leave Tiruvarur at 8.05 a.m. and arrive at Nagore at 9.45 a.m. instead of 9.30 a.m.
