NEW DELHI, JAN. 29. An 11-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from her school at Badarpur in South Delhi a week ago was rescued from Mahipalpur in South-West Delhi today. The accused, who is alleged to have abducted another girl from Agra in 2003, has been arrested. The police received a complaint from a woman last week saying that her daughter, Charu, had been abducted from school. The suspect, Manoj Kumar, who had been living in her house as a tenant, had taken the girl along with him claiming that her father had met with an accident. From his room the police recovered a letter in which he said he was abducting Cahru as it was because of her mother that his wife had gone missing. While renting their house, Manoj had told the girls's parents that he was from Etawah, but the police found that the address was a fake. On being told that he had once called up his sister living at Mahipalpur using the landlord's telephone in October last, the police retrieved the records and traced his sister. She said Manoj's real name was Dinesh and that he was from Agra. Another team was sent there, but the accused was not found there. This afternoon, the police received a tip-off that Dinesh had been spotted with the missing girl in Mahipalpur. They laid a trap and arrested him. The girl was handed over to her relatives. During interrogation, Dinesh disclosed that he had abducted another girl in Agra. He claimed that he could lead the police to her. Further investigations are on.
