With nearly three decades of existence in the real estate scenario, Yasoram Construction Company, steered by A.R.Sreedhara Vadhyar, in spite of having traversed a long way, is still self-effacing.
The skills and determination of Vadhyar against all odds have given Yasoram Construction Company rich dividends from time to time.
Like many, even Vadhyar had a modest beginning. He started his career as a supervisor in the Kerala Government's Public Health and Engineering Department way back in 1965. It was A.R.S. Vadhyar who came up with a novel idea of pre-fabricated concrete houses in 1973. This unique project received national attention almost immediately as such houses could be assembled in just 24 hours and also because one could pull it to bits and transported quite easily. A number of such houses built decades ago still stand testimony to his technical superiority. And four years later, in 1977, he established Yasoram Construction Company with a view to providing quality housing to people at an affordable price. "During the time in which I started, the concept of housing loan never existed" Vadhyar recalls with a smile. Within a year of coming into existence, Yasoram Construction Company came up with a housing colony project at Mamangalam in Ernakulam in two acres of land. And he never had to look back ever since.Yasoram Construction Company has now around 2000 completed projects to its credit, which include multistoried commercial complexes, residential apartments, housing colonies, hospitals, educational institutions, hotels, temples, churches, mosques and design consultancy. The Yasoram Charitable Trust, a subsidiary of the Yasoram Group, has taken up a number of welfare projects, including housing schemes aiming the weaker sections of the society. The Trust also offers free consultancy to schools, colleges and other such social organizations.Appreciating and recognizing his contribution into the field of housing, A.R.S. Vadhyar was conferred the Rashtriya Gourav Award by the All India Achiever's Conference, New Delhi. The International Integrity Peace and Friendship Society also honoured him with an Award of Excellence. He is also the recipient of Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Award and Gandhi Peace Foundation Award for his contribution. In the recent past Vadhyar had come up with yet another unique project called Sky city with a view to ease the traffic bottlenecks in Kochi. The project which is likely to cost 600 crores was presented to the Government and discussions are going on at various levels. The Skycity is a flyover project that will connect Thevara with Kochi Byepass in Edappally, covering 8.5 km running through the city of Kochi without affecting its basic arterial road system. The special highlight of this project is that it will contain multi-stories shopping malls, commercial hubs at vantage points, amusement centres, hotels, hospitals, educational institutions among other things public utility.Yasoram Group's other project titled Marine Skycity has already been proposed for construction on the Beach Road at Kozhikode. The 4.5 km Sky City with its 8 meter wide road will provide for two-way traffic, parking bay for cars, foot path and shopping centers.
