KOZHIKODE, FEB. 10. The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) and Andong National University in South Korea will exchange academic material and publications, faculty members, research workers and students and undertake joint research projects under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two on November 3, 2004. The NIT-C is the only Indian partner of the Korean university. The NIT-C Director, S.S. Gokhale, told The Hindu : ``We signed the MoU when I had been to South Korea last year. The details have to be worked out.'' Dr. Gokhale said that joint research could be on an individual-to-individual basis. South Korean universities are known for their expertise in the automobile and electronics sectors and Indian universities, including the NIT-C, are known for their skills in information technology. ``In the area of hardware, South Korean universities are giants in their own way. Their industrial base is also very strong.'' Its website address is www.andong.ac.kr Andong National University, the only national university in Kyongbuk province, was started in 1947 as Andong Normal School. It was upgraded as Andong National University (ANU) on March 1, 1991. This is the first tie-up of the NIT-C with any foreign university.
