TIRUNELVELI, FEB. 10 . The Collector, Atul Anand, on Wednesday, said 335 works on an outlay of Rs.2.39 crores were being implemented in the villages under the Kuruvikulam panchayat union. Addressing a mass contact programme held at Kuruvikulam, the Collector said these works had been allocated under the MP and MLA constituency development scheme, drought relief schemes, village self-sufficiency schemes, Sampoorna Grama Rozgar Yojana etc. Mr. Atul Anand said self-help group members in the district had saved Rs. 26 crores in the banks and the financial institutions were vying with one another to extend credits to the SHG members, as their repayment of loans was prompt. He appealed to the public to make use of the laparoscopic camps to be held at Kuruvikulam on February 15 and at Sernthamaram on February 22. The Collector also distributed welfare measures including house site pattas to 20 beneficiaries and pension to 18 village assistants.
