SALEM, FEB. 10. Young graduates should keep in touch with the emerging trends in the areas of Science, Engineering and Technology, the vice-president of the Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai, K. Jayaramakrishnan has said. Delivering the "Post Graduation Day'' address here today, Mr. Jayaramakrishnan said that the graduates must pursue their higher education in these emerging areas and in the field of Management. Expressing confidence over the current generation of graduates, who, he said, would bring laurels to the Nation in the years to come, the TCS official pointed out that a strong educational foundation in the country was the inherent necessity to foster research and development. The secretary, A. Dhirajlal, encouraged the graduates to work hard to achieve the better result. The students were administered an oath followed by the distribution of degree certificates. Catherina Swismitha of Sona College came first in the Anna University rankings for ME (Computer Science and Engineering). P. Kavitha of the same discipline came sixth. The first three positions in M.Sc Information Technology and Management went to Sona College with its students D. Dhivya, D. Nirmaladevi and Koduru Lakshmi finishing in that order. G. Pradhepa of the same batch came ninth. The College also won the University level best academic performances for the Post Graduate students this year.
The vice-chairman of Sona College of Technology, C. Valliappa, delivered special address.
The Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University, T. Balakrishnan, awarded degrees to the successful students in the Government Women's Arts and Science College here on Wednesday. The Principal, Sharada Nambi Arooran, presided over the function. Hemalatha, Kalaiselvi, Kalaivani and Jothilakshmi received gold medals. Padmavathy received special prize for her studies.
