Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, FEB. 10. The Confederation of the Pondicherry State Government Employees Associations has called upon the Central Government to constitute the Sixth Pay Commission for revision of the wages of the staff. R. Jayaraman, president of the Confederation said in a release here yesterday that the Confederation of the Central Government Employees and Workers in New Delhi had already drawn the attention of the Centre to the demands of the staff. The State Government employees had come out with a charter of 70 demands and the Central and State Governments would be urged to concede the demands. Mr. Jayaraman said that pending formation of the Sixth Pay panel the Centre should pay interim allowance to the staff. Fifty percent of the dearness allowance should be merged with basic pay retrospectively from July 2002. The grievances of the anganwadi workers and helpers had not been settled for years together.
