CHENNAI, FEB. 10. Opener Varma Bharati's century was the feature of Madhya Pradesh's 83-run win over Punjab in the pre-quarterfinals of the MNMJEC-sponsored senior National women's cricket championship at the CPT-IP ground on Thursday. Opting to bat, MP rode on Bharati's fine 113 to finish at 249 for six in the allotted 50 overs. Bharati rotated the strike well before retiring in the 48th over due to a niggle. In reply Punjab batted out the overs, but was never quite in the race.
Friday's quarterfinal line-up: defending champion Indian Railways v Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu v Mumbai, Air-India v Maharashtra and Karnataka v Delhi.
Maharashtra 157 for nine in 50 overs (Chandrani Kamble 38, Priyanka Roy three for 16) bt Bengal 119 for nine in 50 overs (Bobby Dutta 26, Chandrani three for 17).
Delhi 225 for six in 50 overs (Rajni Sharma 51, Asha Rawat 35, Reema Malhotra 42, Dipti Dhayani 31 not out) bt Uttar Pradesh 143 in 44.5 overs (Eitty Chaturvedi 37).
Mumbai 132 in 48.5 overs (Sangeetha Kamat 32) bt Jharkand 66 in 41 overs (Seema Poojari three for 17).
