KOCHI, FEB. 10. Mohammed Azharuddin will make a return to cricket after nearly five years with the South Zone inter-State veterans tournament which begins at the KRL Oval, Ambalamugal, on Friday. The BCCI banned Azharuddin for life in 2000 for his alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal but it does not cover this three-day tournament which comes under the aegis of the Board of Veterans Cricket Control in India. The 41-year-old Azharuddin will play for Hyderabad in the tournament, a six-team affair for players above 35. Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Karnataka, Goa and host Kerala are the other teams in the fray. Raghuram Bhat, Arshad Ayub, David Johnson, Kanwaljit Singh and Vivek Jaisimha are the some of the other stars who will be seen in action. Justice A.K. Basheer of the Kerala High Court will inaugurate the tournament. The BCCI secretary S.K. Nair and former Test opener Chetan Chauhan, who is also the president of the Board of Veterans Cricket in India, will be the chief guests at the closing function. Our Principal Correspondent
