VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 10. As many as 458 candidates have been selected in the DSC-03 (District Selection Committee) examination conducted on April 4 and 5 last year. The posts include 187 school assistants, 41 language pundits, 208 secondary grade teachers and 22 physical education teachers (PETs). Announcing the results at a press conference here on Thursday, the district Collector, K. Prabhakar Reddy, said that counselling for the selected candidates would be conducted after February 17. A committee, consisting of the Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Sudharani, the Chief Executive Officer and the District Educational Officer would conduct the counselling. Verification of the certificates of selected candidates would be held at the District Educational Officer's Office in Machilipatnam. The verification for school assistants, language pundits and PETs would be held on February 12 and for secondary grade teachers on February 13. A total of 7,192 candidates appeared for the examination and 68 posts remained unfilled due to non-availability of candidates. A majority of these posts were in ST category. One language pundit (sanskrit) post in SC woman's category has also not been filled for want of candidates. The DEO, A. Satyanarayana Reddy, was present.
