VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 10. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district unit staged a rasta roko at Tiruvur on Thursday in protest against the Government not releasing water to save the standing crop in Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. The TDP urban president, Gadde Rammohan, and the party MLA from Nandigama, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, led the protest programme saying that farmers under the NS Right and Left Canals were in danger of losing their crops for want of water supply. They were also asking the Government to purchase cotton through Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) in view of fall in prices and continuation of free power scheme in tune with the ruling party's election promise.
