Constitution of juvenile boards sought

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI, FEB.10. A writ petition seeking a direction to the State Government to expedite the constitution of juvenile justice boards in each district was filed before the High Court today.

The petition was filed by K.P. Hameed from Kozhikode.

According to the petitioner, the Government had initiated action to set up the boards, but it was being delayed because of political considerations. The petition sought to restrain the Government from meddling with the panel of names given by the district judges for appointment to the boards.

Trial of suit

Justice K. Ramkumar today observed that the trial of a suit filed by C.K. Vidyasagar, president of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, be conducted untrammelled and uninfluenced by the observations made by the Court while disposing of Mr. Vidyasagar's petition against a Kollam sub-court order.

The Court had made certain observations while dismissing a petition seeking a declaration that he was entitled to preside over a Director Board meeting held recently. The petition was filed against the Kollam sub-court order rejecting his plea for a direction to the SNDP Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, not to prevent the petitioner from presiding over the meeting. The suit sought to restore the powers of the president to him.
