THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 10. Train services to and from the central station here are likely to be delayed on account of the non-interlocking work being taken up for nine days from February 12 at Kochuveli as part of commissioning the second coaching terminal. According to the railways, the work is being taken up to link the newly laid tracks with the main line. During this period, speed restrictions will be imposed for the trains passing through Kochuveli railway station and they will be piloted manually. Some trains will be received and despatched in the "non-platform" lines at the Kochuveli station due to operational reasons from February 12 to 21. The trains include the 361/366 Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam Passenger, the 363 Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger, the 364 Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam Passenger and the 728/727 Kollam-Madurai-Kollam Passenger. According to railways, extra time will be provided for the trains at Kochuveli station for the convenience of the passengers. The railway has rescheduled the 6346 Thiruvananthapuram-Lok Manya Tilak Kurla Express of February 13 and 15. The train will depart from here at 11.30 a.m instead of 10 a.m. The 363 Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger will leave Kollam at 12 noon instead of 3.40 p.m on February 12 and 15. The railways have appealed to the public to bear with the inconveniences likely to be caused on account of the work.
Special trains
The Southern Railway will operate two special trains between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Chennai Central on February 13 and 14 to clear the extra rush of passengers. The 636A special on February 13 and 636 on February 14 will leave from the Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station at 7.30 p.m. to reach Chennai central at 12.30 p.m. the next day, according to the railways. The trains will stop at Varkala, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanacherry, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palakkad, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Arakkonam railway stations.
