Minimum wages panel completes visit

TIRUPUR, FEB. 10. The high-powered committee set up by the State Government to fix minimum wages in the knitting sector of the textiles industry, completed its two-day visit here on Wednesday.

The committee visited several knitting units in Tirupur town and Mudalipalayam industrial complex and inquired about the working hours and wages.

The next day, a meeting was held with the trade associations at the South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association (SIHMA). The panel would visit Madurai, Karur and Chennai. The committee has to submit its report by March end.
