Temple fete begins

TIRUPATI. Feb. 27. The annual Brahmothsavam in the TTD-run Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram near here got off to a devotional start with a large number of devotees and locals converging at the shrine for a glimpse of the deity at the fete.
To signal the start of the nine-day festival, the high priest of the temple hoisted the `Dhwaja Patam' carrying the picture of `Garuda' atop the `Dhwaja Sthambham' (flagpost) at the auspicious time amid chanting of verses from the scriptures.
