TTD to observe `Library Day' today

TIRUPATI, FEB. 27. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Sri Venkateswara Central Library and Research Centre will observe the 45th death anniversary of Gadicharla Harisarvothama Rao, a pioneer in library movement, as `Library Day' at its SV Employees Training Academy (SVETA) premises on Monday.

Janumaddhi Hanumatchastry, president, C.P. Brown Library, Cuddapah, A. Chandrasekhar Kalkura, president of Gadicherla Foundation, Kurnool, and Amalladinne Gopinath, a retired librarian of Anantapur, will be taking part in the programme, while the SVETA director, B.S. Reddy, will preside.

Measures

The meet is expected to discuss issues like inculcating reading habit in children, measures to safeguard valuable books and manuscripts for posterity and the need to link the library to the scores of research projects currently working under TTD.

The TTD's Joint Executive Officer, N. Muktheswara Rao, the Chief Vigilance and Security Officer, B. Balakrishna, the district Superintendent of Police, V.V. Gopalakrishna, will take part in the inaugural session.
