NALGONDA, FEB. 27. The Democratic Teachers' Federation has alleged that the Government and some unions are betraying employees, teachers and workers on the issue of the Pay Revision Commission report. Addressing the federation's district council meeting here on Sunday, it's State president, K. Laxma Reddy, found fault with the leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for giving its consent for a meagre 8.5 per cent interim relief. "By kowtowing to the Government, the leaders acted against the interests of employees. They did it for their selfish gains,'' he said adding that the federation would fight against the `anti-employees' decisions. He further called upon teachers not to entertain the leaders who are detrimental to the interests of employees. The council meeting demanded that the Government solve pending issues such as sanctioning of two increments for apprentice teachers.
Medical staff stir
The State secretary of the Medical, Health and Vaidya Vidhana Parishad employees union, K. Balram, at another meeting said that a State-wide agitation would be launched in phased manner demanding regularisation of para-medical and nursing staff. According to the action plan chalked by the State committee, the medical and health employees will write post-cards to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy from March 3 to 5 and go for relay hunger strike from March 7 to 16. Rasta roko would be organised in district headquarters on March 18 and dharnas would be staged in front of Collectorates on March 21, Mr. Balram said. The union's district convener, V. Somaiah, the CITU district general secretary, Tummala Veera Reddy, the secretary, Tiramdasu Gopi, also spoke.
