HYDERABAD, FEB.27. The Telugu Desam Legislature Party has charged the Congress with trying use the debate in the Assembly on Paritala Ravi's murder to defame the party and declared that it will not insist on prolonging the issue but focus on people's problems from Monday. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the TDLP secretary, E. Dayakar Rao, said the TDP had expected that the Government would discuss the facts relating to the murder by keeping aside politics. But it was diverting the issue, indulging in mudslinging and prolonging the debate on some pretext or the other. He said the TDP would take this issue to people by holding meetings in the districts and concentrate on burning problems like the lack of the minimum support price to farmers in the Assembly. "The TDLP decided today that we should give more importance to them," he added.
Over to Speaker
The Government was welcome to reply to the debate but the TDP would not seek time to enable the Leader of the Opposition, N.Chandrababu Naidu, to complete his speech. " We will leave it to the Speaker." The TDLP was also keen that the issue should be closed tomorrow. Mr. Rao alleged that the police had shot dead TDP vice-president of Mutharam mandal in Karimnagar district though he had no connection with militants. He accused the Government of planning to get TDP cadres eliminated by dubbing them naxalites.
