Sensationalism decried

Fielding questions on his harsh utterances against the media, Dr. Reddy said he was committed to freedom of the Press and had great respect for the media. But, he regretted that he was against publication of half-truths for the sake of sensationalism.

To justify his stance, he read out a report in a vernacular daily on how a routine meeting between him and the Director-General of Police was twisted out of proportion. "It has tried to present a picture of the DGP discussing with me the CBI's possible interrogation of my son, Jaganmohan Reddy, which is not true. There are several administrative matters which we can discuss. If we have reservations, why should we order a CBI probe into the murder of Paritala Ravi?" he asked.
