Protest against `talent test' leads to tension
By Our Special Correspondent
TIRUPATI. Feb. 27. Tension prevailed at a corporate school here on Sunday following a police lathicharge on AISF leaders who were demonstrating against the school's decision to go ahead with its talent test in alleged violation of the Government orders.
The AISF State general secretary, N. Raja Reddy, was among those injured and arrested in connection with the incident. Condemning the incident, the Chittoor District Recognised English Medium Schools Association (CDREMSA) has decided to keep all the schools in the district closed on Monday.
Heated exchanges
The trouble began when the AISF activists and representatives of the school exchanged heated words over the conduct of the talent test.
The AISF, in a press release later, charged that the corporate schools, after wooing students into their fold by promising them fabulous prizes and free seats, were later ignoring them. The federation also demanded action against the District Educational Officer, M. Ramalingam, for permitting the school to conduct the talent test despite `specific' Government instructions .
