CHENNAI, MARCH 5. The Squash Rackets Federation of India clarified on Saturday that, "it is neither the recommending authority, nor the deciding authority, in respect of cash awards that are given to sportspersons by the Government of India." Responding to the report that SRFI had not recommended Joshna Chinnappa as a bronze medal winner in the Asian Championships, Mr. N. Ramachandran, secretary-general SRFI, said, "as is customary, the SRFI after participation in international tournaments sends a report to the Government of India." Referring to the SRFI press note of June 28, 2004, Mr. Ramachandran asserted that, "the statement that the SRFI has ignored Ms. Joshna Chinnappa is incorrect and not factual."
