Visually impaired team feted

BANGALORE, MARCH 5. The Erin Foundation and the Samarthanam Trust felicitated H.A. Nethraraj, skipper of the Karnataka blind cricket team, along with his teammates for their win in the recent National cricket for the blind tournament at Jamshedpur.

In the final, Karnataka defeated Delhi and an elated Nethraraj said, "It is God's grace that our strategies were effective in the final and we hope to keep winning more and more trophies." Nethraraj also reiterated that the BCCI should give due recognition for visually impaired cricketers.

The KSCA president, K.M. Ramprasad, promised assistance to the blind cricketers. "It is amazing to know that you rely on hearing to play cricket. It proves your strength of will and shows that if you work hard nothing is impossible," Ramprasad said.

Sai Prakash, president, Erin Foundation, welcomed the gathering and also emphasised that the visually impaired when given the right opportunities often do better than normal individuals.
