NEW DELHI, MARCH 5. The Ground and Wicket Committee (GWC) of the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has set March 13 as the deadline for Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to get the Ferozeshah Kotla ready for the one-day international between India and Pakistan scheduled for April 17. The GWC chairman Venkat Sundaram inspected the venue on Saturday and made a few suggestions to the DDCA. "The grass (on the pitch and outfield) is roller friendly and amazingly soft. It won't die with all the rolling," observed Mr. Sundaram. The BCCI has provided the DDCA with equipment get the ground in shape. "I have told the DDCA that the entire GWC _ Messrs Anand Shukla, Daljit Singh, Prabir Mukherjee and Dhiraj Parsana _ will inspect the venue on March 13. I can assure you there will be no compromise on quality. The DDCA will have to meet international standards and this holds for all the grounds," said Mr. Sundaram. Mr. Sundaram has asked the DDCA to organise a few practice matches to test the ground conditions. "I would like to see a match on March 13 too before we take our decision. If the conditions are not of the desired standards, we will shift the venue," he confirmed. Our Special Correspondent
