MYSORE, MARCH 5. Elders in distress may call 1090, a toll free number, for assistance, counselling and advice from the trained counsellors appointed at the helpline centre.

The Police Commissioner, Praveen Sood, said that 1090 was a uniform toll free number throughout India, and that it has been retained for elderly citizens helpline in Mysore city also. Besides the elderly citizens helpline, Mr. Sood said, the general helpline that can be accessed on 105 has been rendering counselling services to all the age groups.
