NEW DELHI, MARCH 7. Various auto and taxi unions today accused the Delhi Government of violating the Supreme Court guidelines on personal use only of the 5,000 permits which had been issued for plying of three-wheeler scooter rickshaws in the Capital in 2001 and alleged that most of these permits had been sold for premiums of up to Rs 2 lakh with the collusion ofthe Transport Department officials. A delegation of three major union today met the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, and the Transport Minister, Haroon Yusuf, to apprise them of the concerns of the auto owners, especially with regards to the announcement that the Delhi Government intends turning the entire TSR fleet into Maruti 800 car and Maruti Omni van fleet. The general secretary of Delhi Auto RickshawSangh, Rajinder Soni, who met the two leaders along with the president of the Bharatiya Janata Auto, Joginder Srivastava, and the general secreary of the Bharatiya Krantikari Chalak Manch, Rakesh Sood, said: "The TSR owners who spent over Rs 2 lakh on buying the new compressed natural gas run vehicles stand to lose from the announcement''. He declared that the unions have opposed the move and demanded that the plan be scrapped. Though the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister claimed that there was no such plan, he said it were some recent statements made by them which had caused a deep sense of insecurity among the TSR owners.
