Cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHI, MARCH 7.MARCH 7. A generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershower in some areas has been forecast for the Capital on Tuesday by the weatherman. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 30 degrees and 17 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Monday was 29.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 16.8 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature stood at 30.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 19 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 90 per cent and 76 per cent respectively while the minimum was 42 per cent and 36 per cent respectively.

Bangladeshis arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHI, MARCH 7.MARCH 7. Sixteen Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly being in possession of fake passports in which they were purportedly shown as Nepali nationals. They had apparently been duped by a Nepali national who had promised to get them employment in Malaysia.

Following a tip-off about the group, the Anti-Homicide Section of the Crime Branch had carried out a raid at Hotel New Neel Ganga in Paharganj on Sunday and arrested them.

The police recovered two passports from each of them. While one was the genuine passport issued to them in Bangladesh, the other was the fake passport purportedly issued by Nepal authorities. The accused had assumed Nepali names in the fake passports.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they knew one Buttu, a Nepali national who was married in Dhaka and used to run a travel agency there. Buttu had told them there were many jobs in Malaysia and that he would send them there if they paid up Rs. 50,000 each.

The police said Buttu had also told the accused that the Malaysians preferred Nepali nationals as employees. He promised them that he would get passports on Nepali identities issued for them and then send them to Malaysia. He even got air tickets, from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur via Delhi and Mumbai, for the group.

However, no member of the group ever went to Kathmandu. Instead, they came to India from Haridaspur border on March 1 using their genuine passports.
