TUMKUR, MARCH 10. C. Channigappa, Minister for Sericulture and Minister in charge of Tumkur district, has asked officials to stop the demolition of the Baddihalli Tank. There was tension at the tank on Thursday morning when officials tried to resume the demolition. The work, which began last Saturday, was halted on Monday when farmers from the tank's command area forced the officials concerned to leave the tankbed. On Thursday, on hearing about the attempt to resume the demolition of the tank, people gathered and stopped the officials. The police arrived and prevented the situation from worsening. Mr. Channigappa told The Hindu that he has asked the officials to stop the demolition of the tank.
