Letters to the Editor
Sir, I have followed with interest the history of The Hindu 's circulation growth, from 10,000 in 1927 to a million-plus today. It is a matter of satisfaction and delight to its million readers. In all these long years since 1878, The Hindu has maintained its high standards of fairness and integrity except for its wavering stand on the Emergency of 1975. It has endeavoured to present the news without compromising moral values and being fair to all parties in any matter of dispute. This is a remarkable feat. The Hindu is now an icon for honest reporting and impartial, objective news coverage, Congratulations on achieving the fine figure of one million and may The Hindu grow from strength to strength, never losing sight of the truth.
Uma Balakrishnan,
