Somnath's approach correct: Jyoti Basu

KOLKATA,
MARCH 11.
The CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, Jyoti Basu, has criticised the Supreme Court for advancing the date of floor test in the Jharkhand Assembly. He said today that the Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee's approach to the issue was correct.
Mr. Chatterjee had suggested Presidential reference to demarcate the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
"I think he (Mr. Chatterjee) is right. I also think that this is outside the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court," Mr. Basu told mediapersons before participating in the party's State secretariat meeting here. The CPI(M) Polit Bureau, scheduled to meet in New Delhi on March 16, will discuss the issue, he said.
