`He glorified Nazism'

By Amit Baruah

NEW DELHI, MARCH 18. A resolution moved in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman John Conyers said that Mr. Modi "glorified Nazism" by revising Gujarat Government textbooks.

"Such conduct by such a high-ranking foreign official undermines internationally recognised fundamental rights and the directives of [the U.S.] Congress under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998," it said.

In the United States, a broad coalition of Indian-American groups has been campaigning against Mr. Modi's visit under the umbrella of the "Coalition Against Genocide."
