Randhawa, Jeev among top five in Asian Tour Order of Merit

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 21. Two Indian professional golfers — Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev Milkha Singh — figure among top five in the Asian Tour Order of Merit at the conclusion of the TCL Classic in Sanya in China on Sunday.

Randhawa, who has so far played four tournaments this year, was placed at a creditable third position with an earning of $1,64,282.

In the 2004 Order of Merit, Randhawa had finished second with an earning of $351,709,53. Jeev Milkha Singh of Chandigarh, with a tied 23rd position in TCL Classic in Sanva, moved up to fifth spot. After playing seven tournaments, Jeev, son of legendary Milkha Singh, has earned $89,591.

In the 2004 Order of Merit, Jeev had finished 44th and earned $51,667.90.

Another Chandigarh pro Harmeet Kahlon, with a tied 65th finish in Sanva, was placed at 28th position with an earning of $25,848,80 after competing in six tournaments so far. Kahlon had finished 37th in 2004 Order of Merit with an earning of $62,479,50.

Yet another Chandigarh professional, Amandeep Johl was at the 44th spot after taking part in six tournaments and earned $17,290,45. Johl had a tied finish at 29th in Sanva. In the Asian Tour 2004 Order of Merit, Johl's position was 21st with an earning of $103,094,99.

Jaidee in lead

Meanwhile, Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee, who missed the TCL Classic, still leads the ranking with $221,560, thanks largely to his victory in the Carlsberg Malaysian Open that was co-sanctioned with the European Tour.

Japan's Kiyoshi Miyazato, winner of the season-opening Okinawa Open, remains in second place with $193,423 while India's Jyoti Randhawa, who missed the cut last week, is third.
