Sri Lankan MPs team visits Assembly

CHENNAI,
MARCH 21.
Led by Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker, W.J.M. Lokubandara, an 11-member team comprising MPs belonging to political parties of the island nation, visited the State today under the United Nations Development Programme. They called on the Speaker, K. Kalimuthu, at his chamber in the Assembly Secretariat and watched the House proceedings.
Just as the MPs were watching the proceedings from the VIP gallery, Mr. Kalimuthu made an announcement of their presence in the House. "On behalf of the Chief Minister, members of the Legislative Assembly and people of Tamil Nadu, I extend my hearty welcome to them."
The Sri Lankan team held discussions with officials of the Assembly Secretariat on the functions of the House committees, an official release said.
