CBI files corruption case against ex-IAS officer

NEW DELHI, MARCH 21 . The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income against the former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Akhand Pratap Singh, an IAS officer of the 1967 batch. He had retired as the U.P. Chief Secretary in December 2003.

The agency carried out searches at 16 places today in Delhi, Lucknow, Bahraich and Nainital. He is alleged to have a large number of properties in his name and in the names of his family members.

Among the properties found are three houses in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, estimated to be worth Rs. 30 lakhs in 1990; a flat in Basant Lok, Vasant Vihar, South Delhi; agricultural land in Bahraich; houses in Vishwas Khand, Gomti Nagar in Lucknow; a floriculture farm house on Sitapur Road, Lucknow, and a farm house on 10 acres of leased land.
