Moral teaching needed in education: Gowda
By Our Staff Reporter
KANCHEEPURAM,
APRIL 8.
There is an urgent need to change the education system that lacks moral teaching, the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, said here today. He called upon students of Indian Shastric education system to follow and practise the tradition so that they could become great scholars to lead the country.
Participating in the 63rd annual valedictory of Sri Ahobila Muth Educational Institutions at Madurantakam, near here, Mr. Gowda said that ``society cannot recover from the present situation unless and until the olden culture is revived.''
Saluting the 42nd Jeer and the present 45th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Muth for their contribution to preserving Indian heritage by imparting Shastric education, Mr.Gowda said it would be pertinent to note that while India was fast westernising, the western countries were adopting Indian `sampradayas' and the `vedas.'
