"U.S. ready to give information on Patriot missiles"

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, APRIL 8. The United States is prepared to provide information about any Patriot anti-missile defence system, a senior U.S. Embassy official said here today.

There were reports that while India was keen on acquiring information about the advanced PCA-3 Patriot missile, the U.S. was prepared to disclose technical and other information about an earlier version used during the first Gulf War in the early nineties.

Prefacing his observation by saying that this is the "very beginning of the process of acquiring such systems," the official said a three-member Indian team was now at the missile defence exercises at the Roving Sands complex in California. This is the first time India has been granted observer status at the event.
