CHENNAI:
Parties recognised as a State party in some other State and seeking to contest the May 14 Kancheepuram and Gummidipoondi assembly byelections, have to approach the Election Commission for allotment of symbol before April 20. Parties that were recognised as national or State parties in any State or Union Territory till six years ago can contest on symbols reserved earlier for them. The last date to approach the EC is Wednesday, said a release from the State Election department on Saturday.
