MANAMA: Iraqi guerillas have sharpened their attacks on American troops, killing seven of them in two separate incidents. Since Monday, 12 U.S. soldiers have been killed during a guerilla offensive involving a string of car bombings, political assassinations and other attacks. According to an Associated Press count, 1,641 U.S. soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the American-led invasion of Iraq two years ago. Three U.S. soldiers were killed on Tuesday when a car bomb exploded next to their convoy in central Baghdad. On Monday, four more died in Haswa, 48 km south of Baghdad. In surging violence, more than 100 Iraqis have been killed or injured since Monday morning.
