SBM, Syndicate Bank enter semifinals

BANGLAORE: Openers K.S.T. Sai (64) and L.K. Vishwanath (57) helped State Bank of Mysore (SBM) register a resounding 10-wicket victory over State Bank of India and enter the semifinals of The Hindu Trophy limited overs cricket championship at NAL grounds here on Thursday.

SBI, batting first, posted 120 in 30 overs. Ravindar Roy top-scored with 36. SBM made the target in 13.1 overs.

Syndicate Bank, Vijaya Bank and Rail Wheel Factory also entered the semifinals.

Syndicate Bank beat BEL Sports Club by seven wickets, thanks to good bowling by B.T. Satish (five for 28) and an unbeaten 50 by Raghotam Naval.

Vijaya Bank defeated ASC Centre Recreation Club by six wickets, while Rail Wheel Factory beat Central Excise and Customs by 60 runs.

In the semifinals, scheduled to be played on June 8, State Bank of Mysore meets Syndicate Bank, while Rail Wheel Factory takes on Vijaya Bank.

The scores:

ASC Centre RC 164 in 30 overs (Jinesh 63 n.o.) lost to Vijaya Bank 169 for four in 21 overs (Srinivasa Puranik 56).

Rail Wheel Factory 256 for seven in 30 overs (Vinay Kumar 49) beat Central Excise & Customs 196 for eight in 30 overs (A.V. Sandeep 50).

BEL Sports Club 163 for three in 30 overs (Sudhakar 41, Abbas 63, B.T. Satish five for 28) lost to Syndicate Bank 164 for three in 29 overs (Murali Iyengar 42, Raghotam Naval 50 n.o.).

State Bank of India 120 for seven in 30 overs lost to State Bank of Mysore 121 for no loss in 13.1 overs (K.S.T. Sai 64 n.o., L.K. Vishwanath 57 n.o.).
